Southern Depot Something special. Heard several tracks on Dutch radio Kink FM around its release date and was instantly sold. Glad to was able to pick it up at Boudisque recordstore in Amsterdam back then. Great variety in tracks. Grainstadet (as it says on the back of the physical album) is a great tension building masterpiece. My CD was starting to show some issues, so I'm glad with this digital release! Favorite track: Grainstated.

Autumn leaves falling down Gone yellow, old and brown They will provide for the new Which will come not in few And the time passes by While we do not know why As we grow and grow And our ages flow We are not to lie low before we die Sometimes I think Where is the link That binds us together in this gruesome weather And then I see it clear For you are now here Together on time we borrow We go to a brighter tomorrow Without the always present fear

3rd release of our 2021 Bandcamp reissue series. A true gem from our back-catalogue (2003). Includes a Bandcamp-only unreleased new track (2021) and an exclusive remix (2003).

" ... Autumn leaves, debut of the Amsterdam one-man band Scaven, is an autumnal and mature sounding record full of electronic mood music that deserves a wider audience than just a handful of afficionados ... " (Alfred Bos, Aloha 2003)

Sometimes artists manage to join the greatest here on earth with their debut. Think of Bola who made such an impression with his 'Soup' that the Bolaman could immediately be placed between the Future Sound Of London, Autechre and Boards Of Canada. Well, something like this may also happen in The Netherlands through the debut of Scaven. The first listen to 'Autumn leaves' makes you long for autumn. Not too warm, certainly not too cold, but above all for melancholy. 'Hello goodbye' (track 1) can match itself with Global Communication or Autechre, but then with fascinating voice samples. Scaven himself does not hide the fact that he listens to others, who doesn't? For example, 'Ridum' could be done by F.S.O.L. This CD is breathing spheres that can also appeal to fans of Pete Namlook (track 7) and Biosphere (tracks 9, 10, 11). 'Orchide' (track 12) is Edgar Froese from Tangerine Dream who is at last moving along with the time... That leaves us with the title track which is closing the CD so majestically with its emphatic melody and voice samples, that it forces you to push the play button in order to listen to 'Autumn leaves' once again.
Grab the opportunity, these kinds of CDs are rare. Let those autumn leaves whirl!
